The Prepare/Save/Print Legal Documents Menu is arranged to help
you navigate through the Forms Categories and select a Form.
After the Form is filled out, it can be reviewed, printed, saved,
or written to a file. This help file contains descriptions on:
o NAVIGATOR STRIP - The navigator strip at the bottom of the
screen describes what key strokes are active with that
screen.
o FORMS SELECTION - Select from the hierarchical categories
down to a set of forms. Selection of a form (menu text in
upper/lower case) will create a document. Going back to a
category (text in upper case only) will move back to that
level in the categories.
o PREPARE DOCUMENT - Once a document is selected, the
program prompts the user to answer questions to produce the
document. When the document is complete it is displayed on
the screen and can be saved, printed, or written to a file.
o SAVE PREPARED DOCUMENT - To save a document type S and enter
a description. The REVIEW DOCUMENT program will display
this description as a menu item.
o WRITE PREPARED DOCUMENT TO FILE - To write a document to a
file type F. Select ASCII format or Cancel. The document
will be written to \LAWDOC\TEMP.OUT.
o PRINT DOCUMENT - To print the document type P. The program
will ask the user if the printer is ready on PRN:.
The following section give a more detail description for each of
these topics.
NAVIGATOR STRIP:
The navigator strip at the bottom of the screen describes the
keystrokes that can be used with the active screen. The navigator
strip changes each time the display screen changes. The different
fields in the navigator strip are:
o Scroll Up/down - the up arrow and down arrow keys are used to
scroll up and down the active screen.
o Select Top/Bottom - the home key goes to the top of the
document and the end key goes to the bottom of the document.
o Select document - the enter key will select the document that
is highlighted. The scroll up/down is used to highlight the
desired document.
o Main menu - the escape key is used to return to the main menu.
From the Main menu, the escape key exits the program.
o Print document - enter the letter p to print a document.
o Save document - enter the letter s to save the document.
o File output - enter the letter f to write the file out.
FORMS SELECTION:
The Forms are arranged in hierarchical Categories. There are
over 500 separate Forms in the system. The top-level Categories
are all labeled with a "1" to the left of the Category name,
as in the following example:
----------------<< Prepare/Save/Print Document Menu >>----------
Press Enter for HELP
1 <- REAL ESTATE CATEGORY
1 <- PERSONAL AND FAMILY CATEGORY
1 <- CORPORATION CATEGORY
----------------------------------------------------------------
________________________________________________________________
|Scroll up/down|List top/bottom|Select document|Main menu|
| ^ v | Home End | Enter | Escape |
If one of these Categories is selected (by moving the red bar
onto it and pressing "RETURN" or clicking on it with the mouse),
the Category that was selected will remain displayed at the top
of the list, and the Subcategories under that Category will be
listed below it. The Subcategories will be indented, and will
all be marked with a "2" to the left of the Subcategory name.
See below:
----------------<< Prepare/Save/Print Document Menu >>----------
Press Enter for HELP
1 <- CORPORATION CATEGORY
2 <- MEETINGS
2 <- INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY
2 <- BULK SALE OF CORPORATION
2 <- SHAREHOLDERS
----------------------------------------------------------------
________________________________________________________________
|Scroll up/down|List top/bottom|Select document|Main menu|
| ^ v | Home End | Enter | Escape |
If the original Category name (labeled with a "1") is then
selected, the user will be returned to the list of top-level
Categories.
If, instead, one of the Subcategories is selected, the Category
and the Subcategory will remain displayed at the top of the list,
and the Sub-subcategories under that Subcategory will be listed
below it. The Sub-subcategories will be indented an additional
amount and will be marked with a "3" to the left of the Sub-
subcategory name, as in the example below.
----------------<< Prepare/Save/Print Document Menu >>----------
Press Enter for HELP
1 <- CORPORATION CATEGORY
2 <- INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY
3 <- NON-DISCLOSURE FORMS
3 <- SOFTWARE CONTRACT FORMS
3 <- COMPUTER BULLETIN BOARD FORMS
----------------------------------------------------------------
________________________________________________________________
|Scroll up/down|List top/bottom|Select document|Main menu|
| ^ v | Home End | Enter | Escape |
At this point, picking the original Category name ("CORPORATION
CATEGORY" in this case) will return the user to the list of
top-level Categories.
Picking the Subcategory name ("INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY") will return
the user to the list of Subcategories.
Picking one of the Sub-subcategories will produce a list with
the original Category, Subcategory, and Sub-subcategory still
displayed, and the Forms available in that Sub-subcategory listed
below, as in the following example:
----------------<< Prepare/Save/Print Document Menu >>----------
Press Enter for HELP
1 <- CORPORATION CATEGORY
2 <- INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY
3 <- COMPUTER BULLETIN BOARD FORMS
Non-disclosure (secrecy) agreement, bilateral
Custom software contract (buy out)
Beta test agreement (private beta)
Beta test agreement (public beta)
Cease and desist letter
Joint author's agreement
Government license/transfer restriction clause
Software maintenance agreement (author third party)
Software maintenance agreement (same author)
----------------------------------------------------------------
________________________________________________________________
|Scroll up/down|List top/bottom|Select document|Main menu|
| ^ v | Home End | Enter | Escape |
Notice that menu items in UPPERCASE are Categories; the names of
Forms are displayed in Mixed Upper And Lower Case; also, the Forms
have no level number.
If one of the Forms (such as "Joint author's agreement")is selected,
the program will begin asking the questions appropriate for filling
out that Form. Pressing ESC at this point will return the user to
the Forms list.
Pressing ESC from any of the list displays will return the user
all of the way back to the Program Main Menu.
The keystroke commands available from any point in the program are
displayed on a bar at the bottom of the screen, which changes as
appropriate.
PREPARE DOCUMENT:
The prepare document section of the program prompts the user for
inputs that are used to define the document. The prompts consist
of:
o keyed in data
o selection from multiple choices
o answer to yes/no questions
At any time an ESCAPE character will return the user to the main
menu. Once all the questions have been completed the finished
document will be displayed.
SAVE PREPARED DOCUMENT:
After a document has been built the user has an option to save the
document. The user can enter the letter s which brings up the save
document screen. This screen prompts the user for a description of
the document. At this point the user can:
o enter a description of the document and choose to save the
document
o enter an escape to abort the process and not save the document
o chose the cancel box to abort the process and not save the
document
After the documents have been saved they can be reviewed usi
